Adkins Earns Support of Susan Pompeo in Bid for Congress
Overland Park, Kan. – Amanda Adkins, Republican candidate for US Congress in Kansas’ Third Congressional District won the endorsement today of businesswoman and philanthropist Susan Pompeo. The endorsement comes shortly after Adkins filed an end of year report where she showed more cash on hand in her campaign than her two primary opponents combined. This endorsement reflects support coalescing around Adkins as the best person to defeat Democrat incumbent Sharice Davids in the November election.
“I am pleased to support Amanda Adkins for Congress as she will make a fantastic Representative for Kansas,” said Pompeo. “I’ve known, respected and worked alongside Amanda for almost two decades and believe she is uniquely situated to win this Congressional seat back for Republicans.”
Pompeo is an accomplished business leader as the former Senior Vice President of Emprise Bank, where she helped launch a private banking division and worked with small business owners for 15 years. She served her local community in Kansas as the President of the Wichita State University National Alumni Association, and countless other community organizations. She has also worked alongside Adkins supporting Republican women to become leaders in Kansas through the Dwight D. Eisenhower Excellence in Public Service Series.
“It is an honor to have Susan’s support for my run for Congress, and it has been an inspiration to work with her to promote Republican Women and conservative causes in Kansas all these years,” said Adkins.
Adkins worked as an executive at a global Kansas City based healthcare and information technology company for 15 years. Prior to that she served as Professional Staff on the U.S. House Rules Committee and advised on commerce issues in the US Senate. Adkins is the co-founder of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Excellence in Public Service Series which empowers Republican women in the areas of leadership, government and politics. As the Kansas Republican Party Chairwoman (2009-2013) she achieved unprecedented election success. Adkins also founded the nonprofit organization, Systems of Care Initiative to make targeted investments in young children preparing them for school and the future workforce. Adkins graduated from the University of Kansas and has lived in Overland Park for the past 17 years with her husband of 20 years, Jason, and their two children.
